- 4" Crushed Basalt, often referred to
as quarry spalls, is dark grey to black in color, sometimes with a red color. It
is crushed in size from 2” up to 4” without fines, which makes it particularly
effective in muddy or soft areas. It is a clean crushed rock, which means it
will not pack in tight, but it will allow for drainage. Basalt is a blasted
rock, meaning it contains no round edges, therefore it will pack better than
aggregate rock will.
